Santa Bárbara (Chaco Seco + Yungas)

Bosque

About the project

  • Corporate Offsetting · Restoration

  • Salta + Jujuy

  • Partner: Bayer

This pilot carbon offsetting project, developed for Bayer, is implemented in two contrasting ecosystems in northern Argentina: the semi-arid Dry Chaco of Salta and the Yungas Foothill Forest in Jujuy. It combines active restoration, avoided carbon emissions, and carbon sequestration in a replicable business-farm-community cooperation model.

Beyond carbon offsetting, the project incorporates biodiversity monitoring, a conservation program for native stingless bees, tapir monitoring, visits to rural schools, university internships, and an institutional agreement with INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology).
